The “Franziskus Carrée” forms a U-shaped enclosure around a high bunker and stretches right up to the previous entrance area of the St. Franziskus Hospital.
A two-storey entrance hall with a row of shops and a café pavilion will replace the previous main entrance. The upper floors will house doctors’ practices and other hospital facilities (endoscopy rooms and an outpatient area with five operating rooms). The new building enables a close connection between the uses of the hospital and the medical practices.
Architecturally, the new building blends in with the existing hospital by continuing the brick construction of the older building. The two-storey entrance hall opens out to the front via generous glazing.
