The design of Europe’s largest integrated surgical centre on the Grosshadern Campus of the Munich University hospital derives from the Regensburg Building Department. On this basis, LUDES further developed and implemented the project.
The five-storey surgical centre comprises of 36 surgical rooms, 70 intensive care beds, an interdisciplinary emergency room and a central sterilization unit. The building meets the complex demands, which are necessary for the best possible patient care as well as research and teaching. The surgical centre sets the standard for modern, high-quality patient care.
Characterizing for the external appearance of the new building is a double-skin façade construction above a single-storey plinth made of dark grey fibre-cement-panels.
