The design for the new building of a nursing home and a parish hall was awarded first prize in an architects’ competition in 2004. The main idea was that these two new buildings, together with the existing rectory, should provide an urban surround with the church forming the focal point.
The nursing home divides into two buildings. A two-storey front building includes the café, administration, a quiet room and a two-stream play-school. The three-storey main building with the care accommodation is a courtyard house type. A circular gallery allows patients uninterrupted access to their area. All the 80 private rooms look outwards, whereas the common spaces with their loggias face the inner courtyard. It offers residents an additional protected outer area. The diagonally-positioned side rooms and the corridors situated all round shorten the ways for the staff.
