The examination and treatment wing, which was used since 1984, has been replaced in two construction phases. The original master plan to restructure the entire hospital, developed by LUDES, was used as a base for this project.
To improve functional processes, the new building includes multiple functions: a new emergency and admission centre, a centralised radiology department and an optimised surgical department with 14 rooms with a direct connection to the new intensive care unit.
The new central laboratory locates next to the central sterilisation department in the basement. The new three-storey main corridor enables the different user groups to be separated from each other and provides easy, intuitive orientation for visitors and patients.
The new functional wing continues the materialisation and façade concept of the buildings that were built in recent years: brick surfaces and large glass bands lead to a pleasant structure of the buildings trough their harmonious arrangement. Inside, in addition to light-flooded, friendly patient areas, bright, modern workplaces are created for the hospital staff.
